Process Reflection 1
- So far, I have mostly read journal publications centered around the psychological piece of my topic, providing me with a strong base of information that has allowed me to better speculate potential answers to my essential questions.
- For my internal interview, I plan to speak with Megan Cramer to learn more about comedic delivery and function from a director’s perspective.
- First Question: How does comedy influence you on a personal level and a social level?
- Most Important Question: From your personal experience, what is the most common or most important piece of direction to give your actors to bring out the humor in a scene?
- For one of my potential external interviews, I plan to speak with Tory Ross to learn more about the importance and inner-workings of comedy from a performer’s perspective.
- First Question: How does comedy influence you on a personal level and a social level?
- Most Important Question: What has your years of professional comedic acting taught you about jokes and their deliveries?
- For my other potential external interview, I plan to speak with Nick and/or Tony Weiss to learn more about humor from a writer’s perspective as well as how the topic of this project pertains to the film industry.
- First Question: How does comedy influence you on a personal level and a social level?
- Most Important Question: What opportunities for comedic storytelling and delivery are created by the film medium that are impossible to convey through other forms?
- Next Questions To Consider:
- Is everyone inherently funny in some way?
- Why does humor have the ability to bring so many people together?
- How has meme culture impacted our society and the concept of comedy?
- Can humor transcend time or cultural differences or is it too context-specific?
- Since I have such a strong interest in this topic, and the topic itself has potential to be explored from a seemingly infinite amount of different angles, I think I could benefit from narrowing down my topic to ensure that I do not lose sight of the task at hand.
