Process Reflection 2
- Aside from some outlining and general organization of ideas, I have not started the full-fledged writing process for my draft.
- While I have all of my main ideas laid out thoroughly and prepared for the writing phase of the project, I think that I will have more motivation and inspiration for writing once my subject matter expert interviews are all complete.
- The most important ideas I have discovered in order to conceptualize my topic's significance are the role of humor as a fundamental and necessary component of human socialization, the distinction between eastern and western perceptions of humor, and the flaws of the various philosophical theories detailing the "laws" of humor.
- I am still working on coming up with new artifact ideas since my topic is relatively abstract in nature, but I believe that a simpler approach of visually laying out my ideas in a manner which makes the topic more digestible would be very effective. I am also interested in compiling examples of comedy from different cultures, eras, and languages to demonstrate how comedy can become lost in translation; this could be a part of the visual component or its own thing entirely.
- In order to further explore the idea of humor from other languages getting lost in translation, I may want to consult with the foreign language department at Galloway to obtain a stronger grasp of the phenomenon.
- My first order of business (assuming this is the path I decide to take for my artifact) should be to begin writing the written component to guide my thinking and visual adaptation.
- What is the best way to know if I am on the right track at any point in the remaining process?
- Moving forward, I would benefit from some clearer guidelines regarding how to proceed with the project during remote learning.
